We are a family-run hobby breeder located between Milton and Guelph, Ontario. Our love for dogs and they are first and foremost our beloved companions, and secondly, they excel as show and working dogs. They have become an integral part of our daily lives, sharing our couches, beds, and even joining us for swims in our pool. We simply cannot imagine a day without them.
Our journey with this remarkable breed began in 1998 when we were introduced to it. In 2002, we welcomed our foundation girls, Nina and Maddie, into our lives, and that's when our love story truly began.
In May 2004, Nina had her first litter of PWD puppies. The litter consisted of nine beautiful puppies, which went on to achieve remarkable success. Among them were seven Canadian Champions, two American Champions, two Best Puppy in Show winners, three Best Puppy in Group winners, and multiple Group Placements.
One of our foundation females, "Brownie," has played a significant role in shaping our exceptional dogs. She held the prestigious titles of #1 Portuguese Water Dog and #9 Working Dog in Canada. The following year, in limited showing, she once again claimed the title of #1 Portuguese Water Dog and #8 Working Dog in Canada. Brownie's achievements include multiple Best in Show wins, Reserve Best in Show wins, and Specialty Best in Show wins. Most importantly, she has had a profound impact on our breeding program, producing 10 Champion offspring who have gone on to produce many Champion and Grand Champion dogs of their own.
Our exceptional boy, Harry, achieved remarkable success in the show ring. He held the impressive titles of #2 Portuguese Water Dog, #1 Portuguese Water Dog puppy, #1 Working Dog Puppy, and #4 Puppy All-Breeds in Canada. At just nine months and two days old, he earned his Championship, Grand Championship, and All-Breed Best in Show. Harry's accomplishments include an impressive 12 Best Puppy in Show wins, two Reserve Best Puppy in Show wins, one Best Puppy in Specialty win, 3 Working Group firsts, 18 other group placements, 29 Best Puppy in Group wins, and his American Championship.
In 2021, Manny, bred and handled by Sara, achieved the title of the #1 Portuguese Water Dog in Canada in just 8 weeks.
Our breeding program has produced over 80 Canadian Champions, 6 Grand Champions, and 10 American Champions. Our dogs have garnered numerous accolades in the show ring, including multiple Best in Show wins, Reserve Best in Show wins, Best Puppy in Show wins, Specialty Best in Show wins, and Group wins.
Our dogs have excelled in various other disciplines beyond the show ring. They have earned titles in Agility, Obedience, Rally Obedience, Water Work, Scent Detection, and Search & Rescue.
We were incredibly honored that Sara was invited to judge the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America National Sweepstakes in September 2024.
Our dogs have not only excelled in the show ring and as parents but have also made a positive impact as breed ambassadors. Their exceptional temperament and disposition make them outstanding representatives of the breed. We warmly invite you to visit us and witness their remarkable qualities in person.
PORTUGUESE WATER DOG BREED INFO
Portuguese Water Dogs are a wonderful breed, but not for everyone.
They are fun-loving, family-loving, water-loving, high spirited, demanding, robust, needing daily physical and mental exercise. They require extensive training the first year to make them civilized and well behaved family members. Portuguese Water Dogs are a breed that work with their mouths, which makes them extreme chewers and biters, so they must be supervised around children. They are house dogs who love the outdoors, can be great with well behaved children.
They live for "HUMAN" companionship and do NOT do well being left alone. The Portuguese Water Dog breed is not for a working family. Their non-shedding and hypoallergenic coat require brushing weekly.
